The problem
The owner of a condominium unit wanted to replace worn carpet and old laminate with one water-resistant floor throughout. The building’s rules asked for a sound underlayment and limited work to weekday hours.
What we did
We removed the carpet and laminate, leveled two low spots near the kitchen and installed luxury vinyl plank with an underlayment that meets the building’s sound rating.
Removed and hauled away the old carpet, pad and laminate
Leveled the subfloor where it dipped near the kitchen
Installed rigid core plank with matching transitions and new baseboards
- Day 1Old flooring removed, subfloor checked and leveled
- Days 2 to 3Underlayment and plank installed room by room
- Day 4Transitions, baseboards and a final clean
The result
The unit has one continuous floor from the entry to the bedrooms, and the building manager approved the underlayment before work started. The owner moved the furniture back in on the fourth evening.
